I think it's a kind if lock-in. Digital stuff isn't repairable and requires the dealer to fix it, plus they force you into a digital ecosystem they control so they can upsell, show ads, harvest information etc. I think it's all driven by what they want to force on people rather than what people want. What's the point of regulatory capture if you don't use it, right?
