He did something stupid, and should own up to it. If he was as smart as he thinks he is, he could apologize but use the incident as a means of publicizing his beefs with the Board of Supervisors.
There's plenty to complain about SF government, so why not find an adult way of making a case for not just the problems, but solution(s) to them.
