Hi everyone, my name is Rich and I'm a Software Engineer at Northrop - not a recruiter or in HR. We have teams across the U.S. that work on some really interesting projects. For example, did you know Northrop Grumman was a prime contractor for the James Webb Space Telescope? We designed & developed the sun shield and also integrated the final spacecraft build. Check it out: https://www.northropgrumman.com/space/james-webb-space-teles...
We have jobs for all ranges of experience - from new grads to seasoned professionals. A lot of positions require a security clearance but there are a lot that don't so you can definitely find something that fits what you'd like or want to do. Can honestly say that I've personally learned a lot working here and had the chance to take training classes led by brilliant engineers.
I'm a longtime reader/lurker here on HN and would be happy to talk to anyone interested in working for NG. Feel free to reply with your contact info and I'll reach out as soon as I can.
Full disclosure: some jobs here have referral bonuses so if you see a job you match up with and feel like helping out a future co-worker, ping me about the position and let me give you a referral before you apply yourself. Don't have to, just if you're feeling nice. :)
I'm really interested in NG and would love an email if you're ever free. My email is at fs8124@proton.me!
My experience is in Mechatronics and I am bridging into programming from the mechanical engineering side of things. I am wondering if you have any experience with those roles at Northrop? In a sense I have found bigger companies mostly have dedicated hardware teams and dedicated software teams and it has been more difficult to find roles where I can do both at the larger defense companies. Is Northrop somewhere I could go to have an experience like this? I am a Recent Grad, So Cal, Master's degree and US citizen.
as somebody who had all their SF-86 data stolen in the OPM breach some years back, this is not a fun process unless there is a LOT of money involved. Or something very special. Think long and hard before you start the process on this.
Please reach out to connect and I have a few questions we can go over. I've been checking the boards regularly.
