pops popcorn

On one hand, Elon absolutely has a point that OpenAI has not been acting in concert with the purported principles of their founding and nonprofit status.

On the other hand, Elon is not a neutral party in this, not only is he enough of a narcissist / megalomaniac to be upset about someone else (Sam) being the center of attention, but he's scrambling to throw in with his own competing AI which is rather unlikely to hold any deep commitment to the "benefit of humanity" either.

World’s richest man who got there by [checks note] seeking profit, sues world’s most hyped AI company for… seeking profit. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Well, I guess a difference is musk’s endeavors never legally chartered with a mission to put serving humanity above profit. OpenAI had a pretty clear charter and it’s veered far off that. Tesla never pretended to be anything but a for profit electric car …. well and solar roof and battery and charger network and well ok, but never made any legally binding commitment to another motive than profit.

But by seeking profit OpenAI will be able to help humanity at greater levels.

Or he works from first principles and this is betrayal - as they state in their filing.

How about you stick to arguing their points, rather than jumping to ad hominem?

You seem to think for-profit driven motives don't have a corrupting ability, which makes me think you don't understand corruption?

Hard to tell when something is sarcasm on the internet.
