Hi! My name is Brandon.

I'm a backend and platform dev with a little over 5 years of experience, most recently as an SRE at Datadog for about 3 years before I left (of my own volition, wanted a little break). I have a bunch of experience with API severs and data pipelines, not only designing and writing code for the services themselves, but also setting up and monitoring the infra it runs on. I've built each of these kinds of systems before from scratch, both alone and leading small groups, and I really enjoy it -- I have more specifics on my resume.

(or, check out Cloudy But No Rain (https://www.cbnr.xyz, working title will probably change soon) — it's open source, made up of a few Go services and OSS deployments, and I run it myself on bare-metal k8s.)

My ideal job would be someplace small, product-oriented, and sustainable (in both a financial and human sense, so think less VC-powered rocket ships and more bootstraps, nonprofits, b-corps and co-ops). Of course, if you're not 100% of those things but think we might be a good fit anyway, please do still reach out!

And finally (thanks a bunch if you’re reading all this), I think my biggest strength is that I give a crap. Always, about everything — I make time to write great documentation, I jump in to help in other people’s incidents, I create a deluge of comments when someone sends me a doc for feedback. I find a lot of joy in doing good work and I believe that’s why people often seem to really enjoy having me on their team.

If you want to work with someone like that, I’d love to see an email from you. Thanks!
