Is anyone maintaining and publishing a list of these consumer-hostile companies to avoid?

In the last half year Haier, Chamberlain, and Mazda have issued takedowns or actively blocked access to HA integrations.

Just go to the bottom of the integration listing on Home Assistant's website and skip anything with a category that involves cloud. When companies are providing things for free that has an ongoing cost, something is going to break eventually.
