Does the story of Sam raising funds from Saudi investors to start a AI Chip company have any relevance to what happened or is that just a nothing-burger? I don't any people on HN discussing it today

I've seen several people claim it is an "outrageous conflict". I'm not really seeing that.

Seems like a well done nothing burger with a side of french cries to me.

I mean a good question is how would this be structured. Would it be a new SamAltman company or was it to be part of OpenAI? If so, was it to be a profit or non-profit?

The thing is starting to look more and more like, become the biggest name in AI through claiming non-profit status, leverage the brand to go for profit.
