What do they mean, concurrent players? Did they turn it into a multiplayer game?

People playing at the same time. Its not an mmo but you can party up with up to 3 friends.

Steam has statistics for how many people are actively playing any particular game, regardless of how the game's multiplayer works, if any.

Ah I thought they f-ed us over and made it a multiplayer mandatory game.
