POSSIBLY SEEKING WORK | USA | Remote or Hybrid/Full Time in AL/TN/GA

I am a polymath computer engineer/programmer/Linux systems engineer with a wide range of experience, in the realm of computing and elsewhere.

Since 2019 I've developed my own Linux distro from scratch which cross compiles to x86_64/x86/ARM platforms, and is configurable with musl or glibc C standard library, and OpenSSL or LibreSSL libraries. I use this system exclusively on all my PCs and computing projects at home. I know Linux inside and out, backward and forward, and have familiarity with BSD as well.

I am a careful C and C++ programmer who writes clean, reliable, fast code. I'm particularly fond of C, but also have experience modifying and customizing large C++ software projects including Chromium and WebKit. I'm an expert in bash shell scripting, and am familiar with other common UNIX tools such as awk. I'm also passingly familiar with, been influenced by, and/or have tinkered with a number of other languages over the years.

Lately I've been enjoying a project involving disassembling and reverse engineering the STM8 binary code from a washing machine control board using Ghidra. It's a big project with 96k of code, but it's been loads of fun so far. I enjoy low level, embedded work.

My English language skills are excellent, and I have experience writing clear technical documentation and training non-technical people.

I also have a background in automotive repair, electronics, electrical, plumbing, you name it; odds are I've probably done it or know something about it.

I've previously held a US DOD Secret security clearance in years past, and don't anticipate any trouble getting another one if the right job comes along which requires it.

I'm currently self employed and am not actively seeking work, but would certainly consider whatever opportunity you may have available if it's sufficiently interesting. I'm located in northeast AL, and will consider full time on-site work in the Birmingham or Huntsville area, or hybrid work as far out as Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, etc. Remote work is preferred.

I'd be particularly interested in getting into the financial industry including high speed trading, if the opportunity arises. Among other things I have a deep and quite non-traditional background in economics.

If you think you have the perfect position available for someone of my skillset, feel free to send me an email: domain is killthe [.net], nate @
