During the pandemic society as a whole showed a strong affinity for authoritarianism over freedom if it could be justified in terms of dubious safety gains. Governments and businesses took note of just how easy it was and especially how willing much of the public was to assist the authoritarians to achieve their goals. Expect a never ending series of these initiatives to make everything "safe", that will coincidentally also accelerate the centralization of power over everything.
