I do not trust the motives here. It is hard to find a more textbook example of regulatory capture.

Now, to be fair, Altman may be proposing this to shut more draconian regulations down.

But it smells bad. And I am definitely not the only one holding that opinion.

This should be a public debate process at a minimum.

Now, that out of the way, what happens when others do not require licenses and or choose to build what they want anyway?

The US is not the world.
