Copyright infringement is a backbone of the digital world. People remix others’ music, write fanfiction of others’ works, draw fan art of others’ characters, write and distribute clones of others’ games, etc. Much of internet culture involves drawing captions on others’ art and spreading it around, i.e. memes.

Twitch pulls in multiple billions of dollars of revenue from video game streaming, which hasn’t been tested in court and may very well be copyright infringement. People regularly pirate games, movies, television shows, music, books, software, research papers, etc.

I believe that the culture benefits tremendously from this. My question is, why should we draw the line exactly here, at AI generated images, code, and writing?
