Challenging legally, and challenging philosophically. I would think an artist doing it for the art would embrace the fleeting nature of all things, including art. Some artists demonstrate this by creating temporary art, or even throwing their own art away after making it. The desire to make money from art is certainly reasonable, but accepting a world where all art styles are immediately mimicked, where art is trivialized and commoditized, and where there's no recognition to be had let alone money... that's going to be a tough philosophical pill to swallow.
