Surprised this is hardcoded in C++ and not something that can be pushed as an over the air update.

But it can be. Engine fixes are also OTA, it's the same thing really.

Do you mean OTA as in pushed with OS updates? I meant something more like a bunch of dynamic rules that can be updated daily or similar.

Yes, good point. I thought of it as minor safari updates, but small daily packets makes sense.

I guess another issue is that most of these have actual logic in C++, so you'd have to move some of this code to JS (I believe Firefox does that (the JS part, not the sending code part)). Sending code is a bit of a security concern though.
