Electronic prescriptions being faster is only faster if they prioritize them over paper orders. The bottleneck in speed is waiting for the pharmacist to verify it. If they're not too busy the process can run to completion while you travel from the doctor's office. If they're busy due to short staffing or heavy demand your escript is part of a several hundred long queue.

What's stopping them from making a cert and encoding it in a QR code? It was perfectly possible with covid vaccination certificates.
