Enjoyed this greatly! I have an important distinction in my mind about travel for work and travel for fun/vacation. In 2021 I was just a few days short of 300 nights in a hotel. I enjoy the little experiences while being on the road more than anything else I did. The brief odd insight of a short conversation with a stranger you will never see again. Understanding of the parts of this world you lack any control over, and finding out how quickly you can blame yourself for them. Meeting a hurricane survior who is a few states away from 'home' and then being told in such a calm and stoic manner, they lost everything they owned. And a feeling of dejavu you meet someone months later, living out of a hotel for the same reason.

Its brutally humbling if you let the portions of vanity and purpose you cling on fall by the wayside.

It's real actual work traveling. I would have a difficult time being excited for a trip anywhere now. Except the excitement my partner, friend, brother, so on.. would feel for the exact reasons this post conveyed, or maybe it is the former.

To travel for work alone, is more isolating than living alone and working a 9-5. It may not be at first, but it is. Yet I would not trade the last six years for anything.
