It's supposed to be a cornerstone of "innocent until proven guilty" legal systems that it is better to have 10 guilty people go free than to deprive a single innocent person of their freedom. It seems like the needle has been moving in the wrong direction on that. I'm not sure it that's just my impression on things, or if it's because there's more awareness with the internet/social networking of issues...
