dang, doing things like this is turning HN more into reddit with heavy-handing modding, than just letting the community dictate for itself what it wants to see. The community has existed and guided itself a lot longer than the time you've been around, I think you should trust us.

HN has always been more heavily moderated than reddit, perhaps you just didn't notice.

I've been around since the day pg announced Startup News on his blog (though not as a moderator of course), so I doubt that's true.

HN is a complex system of community, software, and moderation. We like to place the emphasis on community too, but those other things also have their places.
