For those downvoting me, I’d be interested to hear how you think it could work for him to come back and work with the people that unceremoniously fired him and made it sound like he had ethical violations when it now seems clear it was a disagreement over strategy. If there is a disagreement over strategy and he goes back what value do the others provide now?

Also, wouldn’t it seem clear that the board acted rashly in firing him without input from other stakeholders?

I am legitimately interested to know why you downvote as I don’t see another way for it to work.
