We desperately need an Antarctica/Moon style extraterritoriality for the internet.

Just tell your citizens that the internet is fair game? Why restrict it to this level and make using the internet the same as having to understand the law in 200 odd countries.

The goal should be to avoid being constantly under attack.

The fight with government is a losing one. We make better protocols, they break the device. We send the data offshore, they make treaties.

Ultimately we need a permanent win before the door shuts completely. The exhaustion in industries and groups that have been fighting this fight for decades is palpable.
