'Please revert' seems to be from the 00's, it's 'reply'. There are others I've tried to ignore and forget.
Language changes, and I'm a dinosaur unfortunately.
I also love the fact American English sometimes uses better, or more interesting words, than English. 'Median' (thanks World's Wildest Police Videos), or 'fall' for autumn.
Reversion to a topic during a conversation has been used for centuries, especially when a conversation reverts to a tedious or exhausting topic.
So if you accept that you want someone to get back to you on a dreary or boring request, then it's particularly apt.
