These big companies are run as inefficiently as the government. They can’t fire anyone so they have to do the dance of making things unpleasant - but it backfires because only talented people leave (because they can get a job elsewhere) and all the dead weight stays because they have no alternative so they will just do their commute and sit unproductive hours in their seats and complain.
