I had ~500 kbps sustained attacks against my residential ISP for
years.
I learned how to do everything through SSH - it is really an incredible Swiss Army knife of a tool.

I remember working at a non-tech company and their firewall blocked anything not on port 22, 80 and 443. I got real good at port forwarding with ssh.
