It keep surprising me that someone can so completely torpedo their brand that news organisations feel compelled to keep referring to the old name so people have some idea of what they’re talking about.

The last time I recall the press using similar language was when the subject was intentionally damaging their own brand due to a contract grievance: "[glyph] (the artist formerly known as Prince)"
