Man, the negativity in here is unreal!

I just wanted to chime in and say thanks for writing this, and I feel seen. It describes my daily feelings to a T. I see open source projects with their great test coverage and their principled refactors, and some days I am that person too! I’ll get a burst of Do It Right energy and just knock out a ton of nice well-built stuff. And then one day all of that energy vanishes and, like the author, I CBF. Tests get skipped, code gets bolted into places I know aren’t great, and I just overall start paving the way for something I know Future Dave won’t thank me for. And even though I’m seeing it happen in real time, I don’t have the energy/motivation/whatever-it-is to get back into an inspired Do It Right mode.

(And this is all for software that I write and sell on my own.)

It was inspiring to see that the author is the creator of Lazygit. If you’re reading this, dude I LOVE lazygit so much. I’ve turned friends onto it who love it too. In my mind you’re in the category of open source maintainers who somehow always manage to Do It Right.

Author here, this made my day! Sounds like you and I share similar experiences with motivation.

I'm glad you like lazygit, hopefully I can continue to keep it in high esteem :)
