Hrm, where is there another "open source/hardware" phone that is not more than a new iPhone (e.g. not a libre phone)? I was really thinking about getting the Pine phone pro, but now I am a bit shaken.

You can always boot/install whatever you want on the Pro, too. It's just one extra step. It's as open as it ever was.
