Unfortunately NetSurf (and other scratch written browsers) are just a demonstration of the trend of Chromification of the web. Outside of old or decidedly accessible sites NetSurf isn't usable on a lot of the web. Too many sites require too much JavaScript for a scratch built non-JIT JavaScript engine to run.
