Back in the day police departments used to do psychological screening on candidates as part of the hiring process. I've heard that many departments no longer do so under pressure from the police unions. I wonder how many of the extremely brutal cops would have been caught by this type of screening?

I was on a thread with a cop in Nashville who was feeling hurt about all cops being painted with a negative brush, then I brought up how bad unions are and he literally asked me if I was in law enforcement... he then went off on how bad unions are.

Police unions are immoral institutions at this point. Between unions, qualified immunity and the DA PD conflict of interest there is literally no garbage collection for cops.

The whole immune system apparatus is gone. Each of those three pieces need to be clawed back, too many perverse incentives and too much on the line for an individual cop to report or antagonize a psycho coworker.
