It's odd to speak of Cyc just now being commercialized -- Cycorp has been in business using Cyc as its core tech for a long time. Military contracting, among other stuff.

I was hoping someone would come in and say this. I know that Doug Lenat doesn't go around correcting all of the articles, but the mythology of a company just building up a knowledge base with no income for 30 years is far from the truth. Cycorp used to run the Lycos search bot, which is at least 15 years back.
